CPC Choirs and Dance Ensembles
Motet Choir
This choir of 65 voices sings for most Sunday services from September through June, as well as for special services during Advent and Lent. In addition, they often present cantatas and oratorios as part of worship and for community concerts, often in collaboration with other houses of worship in Summit and neighboring communities. Directed by Noel Werner, they also are privileged to be led by section leaders Adele Irving (soprano), Laura Broadhurst (alto), Jason Tramm (tenor), and William Dembaugh (baritone). Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7:45pm to 9:45pm in preparation for the 9:45am Sunday service. Additional rehearsals are scheduled as necessary for special concerts. The repertoire covers a wide range of styles including major classical works, black gospel anthems, spirituals, music from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and contemporary music. Major works performed by the choir include Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat, Fauré's Requiem, Brahms' Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Handel's Messiah and Chandos Anthem no. 6, Schubert's Magnificat, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Saint Saëns' Christmas Oratorio, and Clausen's A New Creation. Contact Noel Werner if you are interested in joining this wonderful group.
