Friends of the Carpenter was incorporated in 1983 as a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to building and renovating housing for lower income families in north Plainfield. Since then thirteen houses have been built and over 85 owner occupied properties rehabilitated. A home has just been purchased that will be renovated over the coming months and then sold to a qualified low income family at a reduced market price. The rehabilitation of five to ten homes is also planned for the coming year. Funds donated by CPC will be used to renovate and rehabilitate homes..

CPC members may volunteer to paint, plaster or perform carpentry work on the building projects.
