El Centro was founded over 20 years ago in response to the flight of Salvadorian and Guatemalan refugees from political violence and terror in those countries. Over the years the organization has developed into a multi-service agency focusing on immigration and immigrant rights. El Centro serves clients from most of the nations of Central and South America as well as 30 other nations worldwide and operates out of offices in the lower level of the United Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, NJ. El Centro is seeking to hire a full-time Executive Director to oversee the organization and its programs. Funds donated by CPC will be used by El Centro to help cover the gap in salary between a part-time and full-time Executive Director.

CPC members may volunteer to assist the Executive Director with grant writing and other nonprofit administration work. Qualified members can assist with the teaching of English to adults.
