Extending Christ's Love to the World!

CURRENT MISSION FOCUS

CPC’s Y-Malawi Team is

Planting HOPE

in the next generation

God has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things God planned for us long ago ( Ephesians 2:10b)

What is Y-Malawi ? Y-Malawi is a groundbreaking model for partnership between a growing number of churches in the US and frontline Christian organizations in Malawi, Africa (listed in this brochure). Together we provide community-wide, sustainable development and transformation in the areas of water and food security, healthcare, education, evangelism & discipleship, youth programs, and economic development, including micro-finance. With a geographically targeted strategy, our initial focus is on a group of villages near two mountain peaks called Nkhoma and Chilenje, comprising nearly 50,000 people each. The Mission Commission oversees two groups of funds: the programs funded through annual stewardship (Annual Mission Program) and the Lena Willis Mission Endowment Fund.

Annual Mission Program
The Annual Mission program at CPC is funded through annual stewardship receipts. The program consists of General Mission, Specific Mission, Designated Gifts, Extra Commitment Giving and Per Capita Apportionment.

General Mission
General Mission is the contribution by CPC to Mission Programs directed by the General Assembly, the Synod of the Northeast and the Presbytery of Elizabeth. General Mission is funded through the annual budget. In the past, CPC has elected to send these contributions as "unified", which means that the respective mission committees can direct our contributions where the need is greatest. In the previous year, the allocation has been 25% to the General Assembly, 15% to the Synod of the Northeast and 60% to the Elizabeth Presbytery. Click Here for more information on General Mission.

Specific Mission
Specific Mission is the contribution to local and global missions at the discretion of the Mission Commission. Specific Mission is funded through the annual budget. It has been the Commission's general approach to earmark approximately 75% of the budget and retain the remainder for emergency requirements. Click Here for more information on CPC's Specific Mission contributions.

Designated Offerings
Designated Offerings are funds collected via offerings for dedicated causes, such as One Great Hour of Sharing. For more information, Click Here.

Extra Commitment Giving
Additional funds given by the Congregation of CPC for the Asian Tsunami and Pakistani earthquaie, US hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma and school supply kits for Iraqi children.

Per Capita Apportionment
Per Capita Apportionment is annual charge from the Presbytery, based upon total membership and is used to offset the Presbytery's operating costs.
