School Background
The school was founded in 1968 as an integral part of the Christian Education program of the church. It is fully licensed by the State of New Jersey.

Philosophy
We seek to help children develop a Christian orientation as they recognize the worth of persons and our common responsibility to God. We strive to create an atmosphere of understanding, trust, and freedom in which children can come to examine who they are and what they are like. Each child is an individual within a group and learns to interact partially through sharing ideas, as well as possessions. The whole child is of importance to us - physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual welfare. We hope to channel their energies constructively and to establish a firm foundation for their future growth and learning.

Staff
Our teachers are professional with college degrees, training and teaching experience in Early Childhood. They are members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and attend professional workshops regularly. All are committed to provide an environment that is responsive to the child's development.

Eligibility
Children must be three, four or five years old for each respective class on or before September 30th by the opening of school. The children in the 2-1/2s must be that age by the opening day of school

School Calendar and Hours
School begins on the Monday after Labor Day and ends in early June. The morning session hours are 8:45 to 11:15 and the afternoon hours are 12:00 to 2:30. Vacations and snow days correspond to the Summit Public Schools' schedule as much as possible.

Classes Offered
Two and a half year olds can attend a two-day session per week in a class of 12 children with two teachers. The 2-1/2s do not need to be toilet trained.

Three year olds can attend a two or a three day session per week in classes of 14 children with two teachers.

Four year olds can be enrolled for a four or five day session with a maximum of 16 children and two teachers.

Enrichment Programs for Four Year Olds
These sessions are offered to provide the children with varied experiences to stimulate intellectual and creative growth. Classes are small to provide more individual attention. The hours are 11:15 to 2:30 or 8:45 to 12:00 which includes a time to eat lunches brought from home.

Kindergarten Enrichment
Kindergarten Enrichment program for public school kindergartners is offered for two afternoons, three afternoons or one morning options. These classes are designed to provide hands on experiences with science, social studies and art.

Kindergarten
We offer a full day of kindergarten class for 18 children from 8:45 to 2:30. The teachers are experienced in kindergarten teaching. A curriculum, similar to the public schools is followed. It is enriched with physical education instruction, music, French and world cultures.

Conferences
Phone conferences are held with parents in the late fall and in January. In the spring, parent-teacher conferences are held at the school to outline the child's growth and development throughout the school year. Parents are encouraged to confer with the teachers as needs arise. Teachers may request a conference at any time of the year.

Insurance
Medical expense insurance is provided for any injury to pupils while within the church building or on the church premises up to the limits stated in the group policy.

Physician's Statement
The State Sanitary Code has established a uniform set of immunization requirements in New Jersey. Proper forms will be provided. They must be completed by your physician and returned to the school before the opening date.
