Elizabethport Tutoring

Tutors in the program range in age from sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school to retired people. We encourage anyone from nearby communities, businesses, churches, and local high schools to join the program. While experienced teachers are valuable for working with children who have special needs, volunteers who have had no previous teaching experience are welcome. Preliminary training, teaching materials, and guidance are provided by the supervisors of the program. Since some of the tutors from last year will not be returning, there is a need for many new volunteers.

The requirements for tutors include:

• A love of young people.
• The ability to relate well to elementary-age children.
• The ability to attend the weekly sessions regularly.
