Additional Committees/Activities
4. Blood Drive
The Blood Drive Committee coordinates the two blood drives held each year at Central Church with the Summit Chapter of the Red Cross.
5. Deacon on Call
The Deacon on Call program is an approach to ensure that the temporary or emergency needs of the congregation are met in a prompt, efficient and caring way.
6. Hospitality Network
The purpose of the Hospitality Network Committee is to coordinate, four times per year, the hosting of homeless guests of the Interfaith Hospitality Network at Central Church for one week at a time.
The Deacon on Call Program
What is it?
The Deacon on Call program provides a central point of contact for emergency needs to be coordinated, referred to a pastor, or to other appropriate resources.
The Deacon on Call program is relatively new to Central Church and the scope of the program will continue to grow. The Deacon on Call can arrange for these two types of assistance:
1. Meal Preparation
2. One-time Transportation Needs
How is the DOC contacted?
The Deacon on Call schedule is published weekly in the bulletin and monthly in The Key. They can be called directly. Also, the DOC is contacted through Rev. John Illian 908-273-0441 (ext. 12) or through the Church Office at 908-273-0441.
